Established in 1982, GODDULANGLIE acquired the Friday Harbor law practice of Donald E. Eaton when he was appointed San Juan County Superior Court Judge. Peter Goddu and Margaret Langlie continue to represent individuals, organizations and businesses in commercial transactions, real estate, business/organization formation and operation, estate planning, and probate matters. We also offer mediation services for parties who are willing to engage in the prevention or resolution of their own conflicts with the aid of a neutral party. Our professional emphasis is on the advisory role of the lawyer and we strive to serve our clients through professional, practical counsel—combining our legal expertise and experience with a healthy dose of good common sense. When necessary, we advocate effectively and ethically for our clients in adversarial matters. GODDULANGLIE maintains an active referral network of legal and other professionals practicing in specialized fields.

At GODDULANGLIE we believe that we have an obligation to return value to the communities we serve and are committed to that through volunteer work, pro bono services, and charitable donations. Affordable housing, stewardship, seniors and education have been among our beneficiaries.

Peter Goddu and Margaret Langlie have been law partners since 1982, the same year that they were married. In 1991 they moved from Woodinville to the log cabin they built in the Lake Wenatchee area in order to enroll their youngest child in one of the few remaining one room schools in Washington. Peter and Margaret commuted to Woodinville and Leavenworth offices (often telecommuting—still a novel concept at the outset) until 2003 when their daughter enrolled in college and they moved aboard their 48’ trawler moored in the Ship Canal in Ballard. They added an office in Ballard and continued to serve their clients in Woodinville and elsewhere until they sold their law practice in 2008. During the two-year hiatus between the sale of their practice and the acquisition of Don Eaton’s practice in 2010, they attended to family matters, sampled life as snowbirds, and did special law projects for colleagues. In the fall of 2009 they moved from Ballard to a permanent slip at the Port of Friday Harbor where they live aboard their boat.
